The Minster Exchange [MX] is a 20,000 sq.ft mixed use development in the centre of Cheltenham. It is the third space constructed in partnership with Hub8 and is seen as a catalyst for regeneration around Cheltenham Minster, which is the oldest building in Cheltenham. The MX contains a cafe, Growth Hub and event space at ground floor level, with offices and break out space above.
The building is a hybrid construction formed partially with steel frame modular containers that have been clad externally with insulation and bold white trapezoidal cladding. Adjacent to the modular units is an event space which was constructed in multi layered timber frame, with Kerto beams arranged in a diagrid pattern forming the roof structure. Walls are clad internally with perforated plywood to aid acoustic performance and the space is wrapped externally with Danpalon polycarbonate cladding which creates a dynamic ethereal aesthetic.
