Futuro House

The Futuro house is a prefabricated living space designed by Finnish architect Matti Suuronen notable for its round shape reminiscent of a flying saucer. Production only ran for a few years in the late 1960s, fewer than 100 were made and today only around 60 of the original Futuro Houses survive.

In 2013 Craig Barnes acquired the ruins of a South African Futuro House, deconstructed what was left of the prefabricated building, and shipped it to his home in Herefordshire. With the help of Edge Design Workshop, working in collaboration with fabrication experts Remote Possibilities, the only UK example of the Futuro House would be comprehensively restored and recommissioned.
